Daaku Ketsueki

Biography: The origin of this bloodline is confusing and mysterious - dating back for centuries. The circumstances for the bloodline to show are such that, those who did discover their power were often tried and executed.

However, although dormant, the Daaku Ketsueki bloodline (as it came to be known) has been in many ancestors, and traces of this has been passed down for generations. However, this 'mutation' has had only been able to become active in individuals with sufficient brain capacity (that is to say, intelligence) which can explain the activation of this in offspring but not necessarily parents.

The most identifying remark is that not only does the bloodline effect an individuals appearance, but it also causes the personality to be subject to change (an effect only really visible in cursed seals or Jinchūriki).

Stages:
1) Chikyuu (地球) – Earth Stage
The Chikyuu or Earth Stage is the first one that can be awakened through the spilling of someone else’s blood. With this, the iris abandons its natural colour and turns into a bright crimson colour. The Earth Stage allows for the use of all bloodline jutsu from E to C rank, as well as a reduction in chakra cost (of -1) from all fire-based ninjutsu. Once the body’s metabolism has adjusted over a period of at least one week, the second stage can be awakened.

2) Rengoku (煉獄) – Purgatory Stage
The Rengoku or Purgatory Stage is the second that is awakened once the Chikyuu Stage has been active for a period of at least a week at minimally Chuunin rank. Once this time period has elapsed, if the individual drinks the blood of another person, the Rengoku Stage is awakened. The most noticeable change is that the pupil turns as red as the iris, making the two indistinguishable. The more subtle change is the bouts of paranoia that now affect the individual as well as a more irritable personality – the individual is likely to snap at enemies and even possibly allies. All bloodline jutsu from B to S rank are now available, and fire element ninjutsu still cost 1 chakra less. After a month of holding the Rengoku Stage, the individual can advance to the final stage.

3) Makai (魔界) – Hell Stage
The Makai or Hell Stage is the final stage to be awakened at minimally Jounin rank. By now, the personality change will have taken an effect on an individual. Now, if the individual consumes the flesh of any other human, s/he enters the Makai Stage. At this point, the rest of the eye (that is to say, the whites) are also tinted red, giving the individual a malicious-looking appearance, and the possessor of the Makai Stage often becomes insane. Now the individual can become frustrated at the smallest of things, and have lost the ability to keep their thoughts to themselves – parts of it always being murmured out. However, this stage gives the individual a large chakra cost decrease (of -5) for any fire based ninjutsu as well as a 50% resistance to fire. Once this stage is in effect, it is impossible to reverse.
